Our five year anniversary vacation to Kauai, Hawaii had proven to be a blast so far. Snorkeling and a luau was a great start on day one. Ziplining and an amazing dinner kept the excitement going on day two. Day three consisted of a waterfall rappel and day four was a spectacular helicopter tour. Day five had a lot of awesomeness to hold up to. It did just that with our ATV tour with Kipu Ranch Tours and a romantic dinner at The Beach House.
We started our morning out at the Kipu Ranch for our ATV tour. They provide helmet, goggles and bandannas which I would suggest you using all three at all times of driving/riding. Depending on what the weather has been like will determine just how much red dust and/or mud you come out of the tour with. We decided to wear our swim suit under some dark old clothes we didn’t mind if they got stained or dirty.
The tour starts off with a little information session and then a short course you do up by the office to get the hang of the wheel. Next, you are off to start the tour! It starts off on some flat roads that are a bit rough, then transitions into more hilly and technical roads.
There are several stops where you get to see some great scenery and some movie spots. The tour guides tell you all the ins and outs about the property. When you stop this is also a good time to switch drivers if your crew is wanting to all take turns driving.
One key stop is at the Indiana Jones Swing. It is the same tree and location on the river that was filmed in the movie. You can swing into the water from the rope or just take a picture holding it. This is also a time you can just climb into the river and play around a bit while others do the swing.
Another stop was a spot where there was a nice waterfall and ziplines overhead. This location had tables and canopies to have lunch. This lunch was set out in a buffet kind of style with different sandwich option. When you register if you choose sandwich you get to go through and make your sandwich along with some fresh cut fruit, a bag of chips and juice or water. We again did the veggie option. This time it was a nice salad with some bean sprouts along with some homemade bread and hummus which was very tasty. Everyone also got a piece of banana bread which was delightful.
After our lunch we got back on the ATV’s and went further on the trails for some more scenery and our last stop at a wonderful area to hang out, swim and soak in the beauty of a huge waterfall. You will want to make sure you have bug spray on for the lunch location and this location.
Ryan loved the adventure of driving the ATV and I enjoyed seeing him like a kid! We had a blast! By the end of it he was declaring we needed to get one. Thank you Kipu Ranch Tours for a great time!
After our ATV tour we had a bit of time to pass before our romantic dinner at The Beach House. We stopped at Ship Wreck Beach and hiked around a bit there.
By the time dinner rolled around we were ready for a relaxed dinner with some delicious food! The Beach House was just the place for that. The place opened up to the ocean and gave the most beautiful view!
We started the meal off with some refreshing pineapple and watermelon juice. The pineapple one we liked the most. We also had an appetizer of Thai Inspired Coconut Crab Cakes. Spectacular as well.
Our meal then was delivered to us by our great server, Matt. He was great in serving us, but also answered a lot of questions we had about the island that we thought of as we talked through dinner. Ryan ordered the Wasabi-Crusted Fresh Island Fish and I had Filet Mignon. Ryan really enjoyed his fish of the day. I liked the filet as well. I did learn however, at The Beach House there is no need to order your filet well done to ensure it isn’t bleeding like other places I have been to before. Ask your waiter for a recommendation on the cooked level depending on what you want if you are not sure.
Our meal was completed with the largest deserts I have ever seen in my life! Ryan chose the Hawaiian Carrot Cake and I had the Banana Foster.
If you are at The Beach House at sunset which happened to be about 7pm when we were there they also have a photographer that will take some fantastic pictures of you right outside on the lawn. Our dinner reservation was at 5 so we had some extra time before it was picture time. We strolled around outside, enjoyed the sound from the waves and chatted about our plans for the next day. As the sun began to set we hopped up with the photographer to get our picture. He has about 10-15 minutes to get as many pictures as he can so he will snap a few of you and then you get to wait until that time period is over to take a look at them.
We went into the lobby of the restaurant and took a look at the ones we wanted. You can purchase as many of the photos as you would like and they email them to you very shortly. Here were the two we chose to get.
The food was great, the view was beautiful, the atmosphere was amazing and it was indeed a romantic dinner! If you are looking for the most romantic place on Kauai to have dinner I would no doubt recommend The Beach House!
The next day, our last day in Kauai, we went hiking at Ke e which is such a special place. We made it to the secluded beach but didnt have time to go all the way to the falls. Next, time we go back to Kauai we plan on doing a multiple day hike all the way to the end of the trail. We also got to try out paddle boarding thanks to Pedal ‘N Paddle hooking us up with the boards and giving us the basics. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be and it was a great workout! Then we headed to the airport for our overnight flight back home.
Kauai, it’s been great! We will see you again!
