Day two of our Kauai Hawaii anniversary trip was just as great as the first. We went ziplining and had the best vegetarian meal I have ever had!"

Day one in Kauai was a blast with snorkeling and going to a luau! Day two on the island started our first adventure- a zipline tour!  We took our tour with Just Live! Zipline Tours. This tour is down southeast from where we stayed (which all our tours happen to be).

Ryan was stoked about the ziplines and I was nervous. We checked in at a shopping center where we loaded up on a van with another family. There were only seven of us total that morning, but we were told there could be up to 12 at a time on one tour. We did the WikiWiki Tour which was a 2.5 hour tour with 3 ziplines.

A few things to note: You get to wear close toed shoes. I wore tennis shoes, Ryan wore Keens. (We bought Keens just for this trip because some of the things the tours mentioned and they were the BEST investment for this trip!) On this tour they do give you a rain jacket in a pouch to clip to your harness if it might rain. Your camera lens or Go Pro stick can only be up to 6 inches long. Use the restroom at the shopping center. The rest of the tour is Porta Potty. Wear bug spray!

On the way to the zipline our driver told us a lot about the nature in Hawaii which was cool since some of the things we had already noticed, but didn’t know anything about. The windows are tented with a wrap for the van so people know it’s the Just Live! van so if you are in the back it is hard to see out. But it didn’t seem like there were a lot of views being missed.

Once on the property your tour guides put on your gear, you do some practice runs of hooking and unhooking your harness and then you are on your way! We loved our guides! They were hilarious and knew a ton of information about the property, which is privately owned. There have been movies filmed on the land and some great beef cattle there too.

The great thing about this tour is they really do support you in your comfort level. For those of us a bit more nervous, don’t bring a camera and you can hold on to your harness with both hands to feel a bit more secure. For those who are a bit more adventurous they will instruct you on doing cool moves in midair like the recliner or Superman. Ryan definitely tried out Superman twice!

Ziplining with Just Live! was great for our first adventure! They have different tours with more lines or add ons of a huge swing and/or rock wall climb. Last thing on the zipline…watch the below video to see how Ryan and I felt differently about ziplining!

Since ziplining started at 7:30am we were complete around 10am and had the rest of the day until dinner to do as we wished. Of course we went exploring some more! We grabbed a snack at Bubba Burgers. There are several of them around the island and pretty cheap eats for the area. We found another beach, the light house and Queen’s Bath.

Queen’s Bath was one of our favorite places! The above picture does it no justice. We liked it so much we went there twice! It involves a little hiking but nothing too crazy. It leads to several places where rocks create nooks in the ocean. It makes beautiful views and wonderful places to swim and/or snorkel. The second time we went Ryan got to swim with sea turtles! More on that later though.

Lastly, on Monday we finished up our evening with an amazing meal from Postcards!

Postcards is a quiet little place with indoor and outdoor seating. It features vegetarian and fish dishes. Ryan and I enjoy some seafood. However, being in Oklahoma we don’t experience great seafood often. We started with The Postcards Platter which was a great sampler.

Then for our meals I went vegetarian with The Sombrero and Ryan chose a fresh fish meal Wasabi Crusted Ahi. I honestly can say my meal was the best vegetarian meal I have ever had. It was so full of flavor and the texture was great! I brought leftovers back to the condo. The next day I scrambled some eggs to add to it and it was still wonderful left over! We, of course, finished off our meal with some desserts. We were extremely pleased with the taste of the food!

Dinner Tip: Postcards was our first experience of this, but it held true for all places. Restaurants are typically open to the outside air. For instance, they may be partially open to outside with fans and/or have some outdoor seating. Since we wrap up our evenings early we went to dinner at about 5:30pm most nights. This created the sun shining right were we were sitting. With it being in the mid to upper 80’s while we were there it made for toasty dinner experiences. Plus, adding the hot food. It gets hot really fast. Things I know now? If you can wait to go to to dinner around 7pm the sun is setting and it’s cooler. People don’t care if you wear sunglasses while you eat. Scoping out seating when you walk up or waiting to see where the sun is shining or airflow is better is a good idea. Ask for a seating preference before you sit down if you have one. You may not get as hot as easily as I do and it may not be a concern (or if it is cooler while you are there), but it was worth mentioning!

Day two in Kauai was a success with our Just Live! Zipline Tour and delicious food from Postcards!
