Sharing Experiences with Your Spouse

I am starting to realize that some experiences you get to share with your spouse and others you do not get to share with them. “Well duh,” some of you are thinking. Not that I ever thought to myself, “I want to share ALL the same experiences with Ryan”, but it never really occurred to me that I wouldn’t necessarily be able to.

In our relationships we have been able to share most if not all our big experiences with each other so far. I have been able to be there for all, but one race for him. He was able to celebrate my college graduation with me. I was fortunate enough to share the Switzerland experience with him. Ryan was there to support me for my first marathon. I took off a day of work to see him speak at Owasso High School…

However, yesterday Ryan was on News 6 Morning Show for winning the Show Your Best Contest (watch video here) and not only could I not be there, but I could not even watch the show! (This weekend I will get to see the recording of it though!) Yesterday it kind of hit me that I in fact could not and would not be able to share every experience with Ryan in person. My sadness turned into excitement as I looked forward to returning home and hearing all about it!

Even though we are married we will still face situations where we can not share experiences together. When those situations arise do not be sad that you do not get to do them together. Be happy for your spouse that they are having that experience! Go in confidence that you are your spouse’s best friend and they too can not wait until the end of the day to share their experience with you.

One last thing, when you and your spouse do get to share experiences together be grateful that you get to create yet another memory together! Today, Ryan and I will be recording with Oklahoma Sports and Fitness Magazine for a radio show! I am SUPER EXCITED that today we do get to share this experience!

What is a great experience you have gotten to share with your spouse that you will never forget? Leave a comment below telling us about it!
