Dave Ramsey is an awesome resource for finance tips for newlyweds! He is a great resource for any finance tips really! Today I am going to share with you a few key things that Dave says is very important in our marriage to keep our finances in the right spot.

Getting on the same page creates a strong foundation for a healthy, lifetime marriage.

Finance Tips for Newlyweds:

1: Put it all on the table- Be honest with each other in the being! How much debt you have, when it should be paid off, etc.

2: Accounts together- He said when married there should be “oneness” in all parts of your marriage!

3: Budget together- And review the budget monthly for changes. Read this if it is hard for you and your spouse to budget together.

4: Make a plan: Check out Dave’s 7 baby steps to see where the two of you are at. Then, proceed from there with your plan.

5: Put your relationship first: Yes, money is something that has to be figured out BUT do it while keeping your relationship first! Use effective communication when discussing your finances.

Dave has a book, Financial Peace Revisited, and planner, The Financial Peace Planner, to help you get out of debt using his baby steps. Feel free to message me about this process if you have questions!

What is a finance tip that you were given and still use today?

I love Dave Ramsey. His teachings have helped give my family vision for our finances. Vision is important for all aspects of our lives, without vision, people perish… Vision for our finances is a must for families! Dave is the man with the plan… written plan that is! LOL!!

This article is super helpful! The “money talk” is something that can’t be avoided since, when you do get married, each person’s financial history affects each other’s records. Will definitely need to share this article. Thanks so much for sharing these tips with us!

You are right! It does need to be talked about! Before we got married we knew how much each of us had saved and how much we each had in debt. Lucky for us and one reason we got along so well is we had the same mind set when it came to money. But that is not always the case. Start out being open and honest about money and spending matters!
