My maid-of-honor just had her first baby last week! So to celebrate I am posting some pictures of all the decorations from the baby shower that I put on. Congrats to the Ground family for their new 9lb 4oz addition! What an exciting (and exhausting) time it is for them!

The shower was specifically the ABC Dr. Seuss theme inspired by the book Dr. Seuss’s ABC. The hard thing about it was there were hardly any decorations or ideas out there for it! The good thing was I bought two copies of the used book from Amazon and made my own decorations. (As a former teacher I felt just a little guilty for cutting up books, BUT they were used!) I only actually ended up cutting one thing out of the second book so you could totally do all of this from one book!

Same was true for the invitations. I had a hard time finding something that went with the theme that I liked so I bought the Dr. Seuss ABC Flashcards and pasted paper to the back. Then, created inserts with the information on it.

Brigitte had a great idea! Instead of cards she asked for signed books. We decided to add the yellow insert to the invitations to make sure everyone knew the plan!

I used plain envelopes and added cut outs of the yellow character that is throughout the whole book.

I put up a Facebook status asking for glass bottles. I received these and added paper and cut outs from the book. Insert flowers and you have a unique vase to match your theme!

Again, I used pictures from the book to put them on clothes pins which had magnets on the back. We gave these away as prizes at the shower for winning games.

Cut outs from the book to create these blocks. I used 2 inch blocks. She then was able to keep them for the baby nursery.

You can see the bottles here. Also, I made a garland strand using cutouts. The mantle also has pictures from the book. I cut out 3 half pages and glued them together as a triangle so they could sit up. In the nursery it is going to have an alphabet wall similar to this one. Everyone at the shower decorated some of the letters, but we had A, B and C done before hand as an example which you see here.

The polka dot cloth is actually Dr Seuss ABC Burp Clothes that she had on her registry. We used some to decorate with. The plates and little erasers came from Target in their dollar bins for back to school.

Dr. Seuss Cake

Dr. Seuss food: One fish, Two Fish and his hats.

Along with green eggs and ham!

Welcome table. Chalk board instructed people to self address an envelope to help out with the thank you cards. A mason jar full of Sweedish Fish. Picture frame with a saying telling them to guess how many fish were in there. Winner got to take it home. “Guess how many fish there are, then you get to take me home in your car.”

The shower co-host, mommy-to-be and myself.
It was a wonderful and fun shower! The great thing was all the decoration and invitations were really fairly inexpensive! It took some time to create them, but if you enjoy crafts it’s enjoyable. Or have some time on your hands, but need to save money? This was a great alternative. Everyone enjoyed the unique decorations!
What is your favorite idea that I shared above?
Until next time- truly love,
Cassie

Oh my goodness could this be any cuter!! One of my friends had her first sonogram last week, might have to have a shower like this!
If you are somewhat of a crafty person it was pretty inexpensive to pull together!
This is sooooo lovely. I especially like the blocks and the food and ..oh I love it all!
Julie,
I am glad you like it all! We are on a budget, but I wanted to make it look great. Not to mention I just couldn’t find any decorations with the ABC theme. It took time to cut and trace stuff but very inexpensive! Hope you got some great ideas!
I love the books instead of card idea because we just did that for our friends baby shower too!
It is a great way to build their library!
What a cute shower! Great job!!
