Elliott-and-Amanda

Elliott dreams up fun date nights to unwind with his wife Amanda. Given it takes him 2 years to grow a beard there’s plenty of time to write them down at FightForHer.com. Be a champ and give one a go!

Remember those picnics when you were first dating? The novelty and ‘time alone’ feeling was awesome! Here’s a really unique way to make it magic again using a trippy fruit – the Miracle Berry!

What it is?

It’s a really fun fruit that tricks your brain into tasting sour things as amazingly sweet! (like incredibly sweet!). After eating one you will be eating lemons like candy and vinegar chips like they’re a new flavor!

They make a picnic date awesome because your brain is screaming at you to not eat the whole chilies but your taste buds are saying it’s OK! We found that this provided enough small talk and laughs to get the atmosphere going.

These secrets will spice up any picnic date. Learn what to pack, picnic foods to help you enjoy the day, and how to add that something special. Get out and enjoy the summer with your very own picnic date!

How it works for a date picnic

When you get there set up the normal picnic gear and act normal – this picnic is most fun when one of you doesn’t know what is going to happen! Try and keep it a surprise until after they have had a chance to suck that first lemon! This mystery really helps bring out that ‘first love’ feeling since novelty is a huge part of keeping the spice alive.

Then, open your picnic basket and pull out the random sour stuff (see below for some great ideas) and set it up as though this is just any other date.

Next, crack open the pack of Miracle Berries and give your partner a Matrix choice! Offer them the lollie in one hand and a slice of lemon in the other! They will (most likely!) choose the pill so take them at the same time and roll them around your tongue until they dissolve. This coats your taste buds with the Miracle stuff. Then it’s time to hock into those lemons and go ‘Flavor Tripping’!

Make sure you get excited about it because they will not know what is going on (and most sane people won’t just suck down a lemon for kicks….)

Have fun exploring the other oddities you’ve brought along and enjoy the adventure together! The effect will wear off after about 20-30 minutes so also grab some real food for afterwards.

Here’s some things you can pack in your picnic:

  • Lemons (definitely)
  • Limes/grapefruit etc…
  • Tabasco hot sauce (novelty like no other!)
  • Goats cheese
  • Vinegar chips
  • Those horrible green apples that normally punch you in the face…

Where to get them

The fresh Miracle Berries are hard to find in stores but there’s a lollie version made by mBerry that does the job!

How to make it even more epic

If you really want to go all out wrap the whole lot up in brown paper like this to give it that ‘real’ feel like in the movies.

Usually the ‘flavor tripping’ is enough to get the conversation flowing but here’s a great app to make it even better!

What is something you have done before to spice up a picnic?
