This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own. I’m excited to have partnered to share with you open when boxes for college students.

Have you seen those open when letters? You make them for your significant other for them to open during certain times or when they are feeling a certain way. My little (not so little anymore) sister is graduating high school in a few weeks. She will be headed off to college in the Fall! I was trying to decide what I wanted to get her for her graduation gift. Then I decided it would be nice to have something that she can take with her to college that will remind her of home or something she can use when she is sick. That’s when I decided to make her some open when boxes for college students.

Open when boxes for college students are gifts that keep giving all semester long. Check out the list of ideas now!

Open When Boxes For College Students

I started doing some research on all the different kinds of open when letters. Then I made a list of the ones that I thought would be good for my sister. I decided to use 5 X 7 X 2 boxes so I could put some small treasures in there. Next, I started brainstorming ideas on what to put in each box. I will share the box titles and item ideas I came up with.

Open when… you get this gift: This would be whatever gift you are wanting to give them on graduation day. This might simply be a card or gift card. Maybe it’s a shirt to their soon to be college.

Open When… you move into the dorms: Think of things that might be helpful for setting up their dorm room. Command hooks, two sided sticky tape, sticky tack. Inspirational quote, picture frame with a picture of the two of you, something with their school logo on it.

Open When… you are sick: What do you wish you had when you are sick? What would you want if you were sick away from home. A small package of Kleenex, packets of Emergen-c, sanitizer or disinfectant wipes. A dried soup mix could be really good for this too.

Open When… you need a study break/are bored: This could be anything really. Anything you think they would have fun with. Small games or card games. Stationary to write home or to friends. Something that goes along with their hobby. Itunes card so they can get some music or books.

Open When… you are sad/blue: Fill this box up with anything and everything blue. Things that are silly. Things that are useful. Things that would brighten their day. Treats in blue packages like Crunch bars, Oreos, any chocolates, or Airheads. Fun small things like bendy straws, balloon, stress ball. A handwritten note on blue paper. Anything blue goes.

Open When… you want to pamper yourself: Think about what they like to do to relax and add it to this box. I added girly things like que bella face masks, SOPHi nail polish, Bigelow Tea, Zambeezi lip balm and a handmade bookmark. She can pamper herself by doing a spa night and reading a book.

There are a variety of Que Bella masks at Target which makes it super simple to choose some your grad would enjoy. I recently came across SOPHi nail polish when making some safer and healthier switches in my own personal care items. The fact that they are odor free will be helpful in the dorms! Zambeezi’s lip balm is my new favorite. Something about the oval shape! And Bigelow Tea is always my go to when I want to relax. Only made since to fill this box up with these things!

Open When… you are discouraged: Fill the box full of encouraging words. Ask a few of their friends or family members to write a short note to them that is encouraging. Add cards of quotes or Bible verses.

Open When… you are homesick: What do they think of when they think of home? Maybe put a picture of their pet, a corner of their blanket, something that smells like mom, the snack dad always has around the house. It could be a candle that is always burning at home. Whatever helps recreate home for them.

Open When… you need a laugh: All things funny for this box! Cartoon strips from newspapers, print off a meme, a prank toy, knock knock jokes on note cards. Add something that they would recognize from an inside joke.

Open When… you’re celebrating an accomplishment: I wanted to add a box that was about celebrating! I added party noise makers, balloons, some dip mix that said it was a party mix. Anything that says congratulations.

Open When… you feel you’re losing faith: I found a daily devotional that is highly recommended and that would fit in the box. Along with scripture cards and a cross bookmark. A bracelet or necklace with their favorite verse could be really fun too.

Creating open when boxes for college students not only allow you to give them a gift on graduation day, but also a gift that will keep giving all semester long. I want my sister to have something that she can open, something to support her when she feels she needs something even if I can’t be there to give it to her personally. This let’s them know we are thinking about them always!

What open when box would you add for a soon to be college student?

Until Next Time- Truly Love,

Cassie

I think a gas gift card would be helpful since she is going to be buying her own gas. Lol
