Oh, Yes. When You Get Married Your Name Changes!

This is something I keep telling myself over and over this week! As the school year gets started (I am a kindergarten teacher) I am realizing my name is Cassie Celestain and no longer the previous name. You might be thinking, “She got married before summer time. What is she talking about?” Well we did get married in October. However, since school already was in session I kept everything at school as my maiden name. I did introduce my new name to my kiddos and some picked it up. Most did not.

Now it is a new year and I have a new name! Starting the year with my married name! I try to log into my stuff with my old name, kids at orientation still calling me Miss Brown and parents are asking who the new kindergarten teacher is when the don’t recognize the name. Then, I kept introducing myself wrong. I would introduce myself as Miss Celestain instead of Mrs. Celestain. You would think 10 months into marriage I would have this all down by now!

I guess when you are use to a name for 23 years it kind of sticks with you. I do have to say I do love my new name! It has such a ring to it. Sophisticated, someone to remember. I mean I could be bias…. 🙂

How long did it take you to get use to your married name? Tell us below!
