A good night’s sleep is very important as it can affect many aspects of your life in different ways. It is common for people to not feel well rested, and this can be attributed to a number of factors. The most obvious cause of feeling tired throughout the day is not getting enough hours of sleep. If you have been finding your bed uncomfortable lately, you are likely to not be sleeping well and you may be due for a new mattress.
That is exactly what has been happening to Ryan and I lately! We purchased a new mattress shortly after we got married. We had been rotating it like clockwork like we were instructed, but yet it still has been getting more uncomfortable lately. I think we may be mattress shopping again soon which made me start thinking about choosing the right mattress for your body type.

Consider your hips
You might not think that your hips would be the body part to dictate the type of mattress you should buy, but they are quite important in the decision-making process. A mattress should support your spine properly, so if your hips are wider than your waist, you should choose a softer mattress. If your proportions mean that your hips and waist are relatively straight, a rigid mattress would be more supportive for you.
Sleep style
Your body type can often dictate your sleep style. If you sleep on your stomach, look at getting a firmer mattress as it will keep your body straight without putting unnecessary pressure on your joints. However, a softer mattress is a better choice for those who sleep on their side. If you sleep on your back, then consider something that will give you extra lower-back support. If you aren’t sure about what kind of mattress is best for you, mattress specialists such as Sleepy’s can help you find the best fit for you and your body type.
Go in store
Many of you may just want to sit in the comfort of your home to buy a mattress and have it delivered; but, with something as important as a mattress, you really do need to go into a store and try them out. Lie on all kinds of mattresses in your typical sleeping positions to determine if any of them are the right fit for you. If you sleep with a partner, consider their body type as well, or drag them along to try out mattresses with you.
Allergens
Although allergies have nothing to do with your body type, they do affect your sleep quality. So once you’ve found the mattress that is most comfortable for you, find out if it is also good for your allergies. If you are particularly susceptible to allergens, consider a hypoallergenic mattress.
These tips are a great place to begin if you are looking to buy a new mattress and don’t know where to start. Depending on your circumstances, you might want to do some more research, or even ask friends and family. A mattress is an important purchase, so make sure you don’t rush the process. A specialist retailer can give you all the latest information on mattresses and help you choose the right one for your body type.
What is your favorite mattress?

Great tips! We’ve purchased three mattresses in our marriage, and our most recent one is a memory foam mattress. Oh my goodness–so comfortable! I sink into it and sleep like a log. Not everyone loves them, but it’s been a great choice for me and my husband.
The mattress we got right after we got married has not been the best for us. We are looking for a new one! Maybe we need to take a look at some memory foam ones!
Having the right mattress for your body’s needs is extremely important. My husband prefers a very soft mattress because he sleeps on his side. I prefer a much firmer mattress because I have problems with my back. It’s about time for us to buy a new mattress since ours is falling apart. We may invest in a custom mattress for both our needs. Your guide will definitely help us make our decision!
I liked your tips for choosing a mattress based on how I prefer to sleep. I’m a side sleeper, so it helps to know to get a softer mattress. I wish that I had known that when I bought my first mattress, because it’s pretty firm. I’ll get a softer one this time to get the support my spine needs when sleeping on my side. Thanks for the tips!
