Baby Safety Tips + Giveaway

Affiliate links may be used in this post. Ordering through these links may result in a commission, which helps pay for the cost of running this site and keeps the content free.

September is Baby Safety Month so I have teamed up with a group of mom bloggers to bring you some great tips and a wonderful giveaway!

But first I want to share with you a safety tip we are using. When we were pregnant I was reading a magazine which had an article about parents who forgot their babies in the back of the car. Over and over again they said they never thought that could happen to them. However, once they became exhausted or out of routine is when the accidents would happen. Those parents suggested putting your purse or bag in the back seat or putting a toy in the front seat. So I came up with a little reminder for myself.

Baby Safety Tip

I place a link (comes in a package of them in the toy department) on Miss M’s car seat. Then, once she goes in the back I move the link to the steering wheel. Yes, you do have to create the habit of moving the link. But once it is on the steering wheel it is hard to not touch it several times while driving. When people are exhausted or out of routine I understand that even the most ingrained habit (like moving the link) can be forgotten. However, this is just one more precaution to hopefully aid in never forgetting my baby in the back seat!

Now on to the safety giveaway! Some lovely ladies and I have teamed up to bring you some safety gear! Check out their blogs as they all have some wonderful mommy resources and kid activities!

What a great tip! I love the idea of having a toy in the front that is a reminder. I almost always have my baby with me except on the rare occasion that I don’t, and then I always give myself a scare, like I forgot to buckle her or thinking I left her in the car and then I have to remember she’s home with daddy! lol

My safety tip would be get off the phone, stop texting, not even at stoplights. When I first get in the car before I start driving, I lock my doors, and then I check my phone and reply to anything urgent, then I leave it upside down in the seat next to me and don’t check it again until my car is in park. I used to be a stop light texter but let’s be honest, sometimes you aren’t quite done responding when the light turns green, then what?

This is a great idea! It’s scary to think that even the best of parents could forget their child is in the back but obviously it happens, sadly. My babies aren’t babies anymore but even with my daughter at 4 I worry about this. I am going to start making it a habit to put my purse in the back!

I really like the link idea. The physical touching of it should help, even when a mom or dad is super exhausted. We used to live in southern Nevada, and a baby left in a parked car during the summer was a very serious emergency with in minutes. There were signs in parking lots urging people to “Look Twice”. Thanks for this post!

I keep my child safe by using all necessary precautions by baby proofing the entire house and by watching at all times to make sure that he’s not doing something he should be doing.

I’d put latches on all the cabinets and anchor heavy furniture to the wall.
