I have been reading Grace Filled Marriage by Tim Kimmel the past few weeks. He writes about true marital greatness and how we must take the grace God has shown us and show it to our husbands in just that same way. Unconditional!
This book really has some great nuggets of information that caught my attention! I really enjoyed the credit card metaphor (which has nothing to do with credit) which you can read here. The most recent section that hit home with me was a section entitled “The Qualities of True Marital Greatness.” So today I am going to share those four qualities that Kimmel writes about!
The Qualities of True Marital Greatness
- A humble heart- Not thinking less of yourself, but thinking or yourself less.
- A grateful heart- Be thankful for the things you have been given. The things God has given you and the things your husband has given you or allowed you to have.
- A generous heart- Give openly to your man. Give your thoughts, time, energy and effort.
- A servant’s heart- Have an attitude of sacrificing. Meet the needs of your hubby even when it is not the best time or the best way that you would like. Remember we have to be servant lover’s as well.
Personally, I think the humble heart is what I need to continue to work on. Granted I don’t do any of them perfect, but the one that could use the most work is a humble heart. As humans we are sometimes selfish. We are willing to be thankful, be generous and serve as long as it is on our own time. That is not particularly humble. It is not about what works best for us, but what our spouse needs from us. I take a step forward this week to follow these qualities of true marital greatness and be intentional about having a humble heart!
Which Quality do you need to continue to work on?
Until Next Time- Truly Love,
Cassie

These are four great things to focus on for any type of relationship. Thanks for joining our Christian women blogger’s directory.
That is so true! Thank you for having such a great community!
I would say I need to continue to work on having a servants heart! I can’t wait to read this book 😉
I is a pretty good book Mia. It was a little hard for me to read right before bed, but it has great wisdom in it!
I need to continue to work on having a servants heart! I’m a little particular in my ways and can be selfish at times (can’t we all?), but I try to recognize it and work on it! 🙂
Yes, Jess we are all selfish at times! First we have to realize that we are. I think for me I go in phases where I am more selfish and then times I am more serving. We continue to learn and grow daily!
A Servant’s Heart–I usually try to meet my husband’s needs or requests bu sometimes I just want to stay seated where I am and do what I’m doing…I try to remind myself, do unto others as you would have them do unto you…
Yes Pam it is hard to find a balance of me and them! At least you remember to check yourself!
What a great list of reminders! I think I’m going to have to borrow this book from Mia. I’m really enjoying the tidbits you’re sharing with us. 🙂
It is for sure worth the read Kristal!
LOVE the humble heart and servants heart. As long as we put our spouse first, we are sure to have a great marriage. Easier said than done though!
Oh so true Chloe! I continue to work on them all!
