Today I am partnering up with USC’s masters of social work program for a grassroots campaign, called #YouMatter, which inspires human connection. They reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to share about the project. When I read more about the project I knew that I would jump on it! With us being in the midst of the holiday season I know that it is a cheerful and happy time for many, but for others it can be a time of the year that they struggle. With that in mind I thought that this would be the perfect time to share about #YouMatter.
Research published by the National Institutes of Health shows that the emotional support provided by social ties enhances physiological well-being. In fact, maintaining healthy social connections can reduce the risk of unhealthy behaviors and improve overall mental health. This is exactly why USC is stepping up and encouraging human connection!
I wrote the above cards for Ryan and my sister. However, they are true for you too! I want you, each and every reader, to know that #YouMatter!
It is pretty easy really. Here is how you get involved.
1: Print the #YouMatter cards.
2: Write why someone matters to you.
3: Take a picture of the cards.
4: Share it with the person on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hast tag #YouMatter
5: Ask the recipient to pass it on!
It is that easy! You can have a positive effect on those who you give the cards to, but also many others with the ripple effect you can create!
I decided to let Ryan and my sister, Emilee, know that they matter to me! You can check out what I left on Ryan’s and Emilee’s Facebook walls if you would like.
I hope you will join us in this campaign by telling someone you know that #YouMatter!
Until Next Time- Truly Love,
