As I have mentioned before we get up at 4:15 in the morning to get our workouts in so needless to say we also go to bed pretty early. Getting to bed around 7:45 to 8 is ideal and we say that 8:30 is late. We try to keep this routine to allow us to have 8 hours of sleep so that when we are training for triathlons, marathons or any other race we can stay healthy. Because lets face it not kissing Ryan for weeks on end is horrible!
Throughout the summer we have heard a lot of people mowing their lawns at about 8 pm. Understandable. It is finally “cool enough” to do so. Luckily it doesn’t bother us and we can still pass out. (Sorry neighbors for mowing at 6am! Its the only cool time there is during my waking hours.) Then, during 4th of July week we heard all kinds of fireworks, but seeing how we are in city limits it still wasn’t too bad. Often we hear neighbors walking their dogs, chatting it up. But last night was a new noise! At 8:45 (It was a late night for us!) we hear a noise. We listen and it becomes more clear. It’s a tune.
IT’S AN ICE CREAM TRUCK!
To think we are in bed. Late at that. And we hear an ice cream truck in the neighborhood. A picture flashed in my head as I realized what it was. I see these kids playing in a yard full of energy, running to the truck, wide awake, taking in sugar at almost 9 pm. And we are laying in bed ready to end the day. Oh, the irony!
We all make choices in our lives that are important to us. That are important to our success and reaching our goals. For Ryan and I that choice is to go to bed early, even though 8 year olds are still up enjoying ice cream from the ice cream man! And some people think we are crazy, but oh, how I love our little life together!
