I was desperate to figure out a way to tame my two year old’s beautifully curly locks. Mixed Chicks is supporting me in solving that problem! This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.
As soon as we got pregnant the first time I started to worry about how I would learn how to take care of African American textured hair if we had a girl. With Ryan being half Caucasian and half African American it is hard to know what kind of skin tone and hair texture our babies will pop out with. Right after we found out we were having a girl I sought out some advice from some friends who had mixed babies and started practicing my braiding skills.
Our little one came out with a head full of dark, straight hair that was Caucasian textured. But as time passed it got curlier and curlier! By one she had a full head of ringlets.
Miss M is now a few months over two and we have still been trying to figure out how to care for her hair. I wanted to try some mousse or some kind of hair products. Ryan was a bit cautious of what we tried because some family members experiences previously.
We agreed to just use a spray bottle of water to tame her hair. We would do this when she woke up in the morning and after her nap. This with some hair clips to keep it out of her eyes worked for awhile. Then, she got to the toddler years were she was more active. Her hair started becoming a poof ball.
That is when we started seeking out other ways to control her beautifully curly hair. When I first sought out advice before she was even born several people told me about Mixed Chicks hair products. Then, again when I started looking for solutions Mixed Chicks kept getting brought up. I reached out to them and told them our story as I have shared with you. I then asked if they would send us their Kids Hair Care product line in exchange for my honest review. They agreed and here we are!
Here is what Miss M’s hair looks like when using a spray bottle full of water and then combing it. This is pretty early in the morning. She got up, did our morning routine and ate breakfast. Then, we headed to the park to play! (This morning she didn’t want to get out of her pajamas. Some battles just aren’t worth it!)
By the end of the day this is what her hair looks like.
We have all four of the Mixed Chicks Kids Hair Care products. That includes a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and a tangle tamer. The way we have been using it is when I give Miss M a bath we wash her hair with the shampoo and then use the conditioner. Once she is out of the tub with moist hair I add the leave-in conditioner and style as normal. For us that means comb it and let it dry. The following days between bath days I use the tangle tamer in the mornings before combing it. Simple enough.
This is what Miss M’s hair looked like after using Mixed Chicks. It was about the same time that pasted as the first pictures above. She woke up, did our morning routine, breakfast and headed outside to play with some bubbles.
What is my over all conclusion? It is working!
Pro’s about the Mixed Chicks Kids Hair Care products are:
- They are light weight products
- Eliminates frizz and enhances curls
- Hair stays styled longer than before
Con’s about the Mixed Chicks Kids Hair Care products are:
- It takes a little more time (than just spraying water)
- I feel like I need to wash her hair more often (since we are using products)
The “con’s” are nothing to do with the Mixed Chicks products themselves. It is more of getting into a routine of using hair products. However, the con of taking a little more time and needing to wash her hair more often is well worth the benefits we get of tamed hair!
I will also note that by the end of most days her hair is still a bit frizzy. What can you expect from a toddler who puts blankets on her head and rolls around on the floor as she plays?! But her hair does stay styled much longer than it use to. On the rare occasion that her hair is not a bit undone from the day really just indicates we didn’t have enough fun playing that day!
Conclusion: I approve of the Mixed Chicks Kids Hair Care product line!
Until Next Time- Truly Love,
Cassie
