I Just Don’t Feel Married….

Ryan and I are going on 8 months of marriage now 🙂  After the wedding I obviously knew and felt like I was married. I clearly still know I am married. However, I was telling Ryan the other day it doesn’t really feel like we are married. It feels more like we are good friends that are roommates (that sleep in the same bed- haha).

The world has several stigma’s about marriage: it is hard work, you will argue with your spouse, you really have to find time to spend with each other, etc, etc. For Ryan and I these statements are not entirely true right now. We believe we work hard, but it is enjoyable work. Just like someone would do with their hobby. Ryan and I also do not argue- we discuss a lot. I don’t think either of us has been upset for more than an hour maybe, because we are fast to apologize and fix our mistakes. We are a team on the same side and that is what we continually work for. For us it is not all that hard to find time to spend together on most occasions because we enjoy the same thing: running/biking. This past weekend we enjoyed a 2 and a half hour bike ride together. 🙂

So with that being said, sometimes I just don’t feel married. I get to live everyday with my best friend and that is amazing! I often have to remind myself, “He is your husband!….forever!” Wow! I know some people tell us this will change. But things only change when you let them change. I believe Ryan and I will work together throughout the years to make sure we continue to be best friends through our marriage.
