Last week I shared the exciting news that I had been selected to be on Dave Ramsey’s and Rachel Cruze’s book launch team for Smart Money Smart Kids! I have been having such a great time reading this book and preparing to teach our little one about smart money skills!
This book was written to help “raise money-smart kids in a debt-filled world.” It has some wonderful quotes that really get you thinking. Not only about how we teach our kids, but also how our own actions effect that teaching technique as well! And if you have been around here long you know that I love me some good quotes! They are just so inspirational and great nuggets to take with you. That is why I started Words of Wisdom Weekend and that is why I am sharing more quotes with you today!
The book starts out by letting us know it is okay if your children are spenders or savers. We do not want to try to change them, but to teach them to spend and save smartly. I love this approach of letting the kids be who they are!
Again, this may be true for a lot of topics, but it is referring to spending. If your kids spend all their money we must let them live with those consequences. If we continue to give them more they will never learn the effects of spending and saving.
Saving helps children to begin to see what those choices can lead to. Saving teaching them about goal setting and discipline.
This quote was in the saving chapter, but I feel this is a wonderful quote in general. How true is this!?
Not only am I sharing these quotes with you today, but at the bottom of the post you will find a link up where you can find other inspirational quotes and snippets from the book! There are a group of bloggers that make up the launch team and today we came together to show you just how awesome this book is! Click some links below to take a look around!
If you are loving these quotes or what you see on the link ups be sure to order your copy of the book!

Until Next Time- Truly Love,
Cassie

We have a spender, a saver and one in between. I’m looking forward to reading this book. We did Dave Ramsey’s program several years ago and it totally changed the financial game for us. Such sound solid advice and easily implementable steps too. I’m hoping our instruction and example will help our kids navigate their finances too.
Alison- We have implemented Dave’s baby steps and are now debt free! It gives a lot of freedom. We are looking forward to sharing those same principles with our kids! My husband and I want to be the generation that changes our family tree! With resources like Legacy Live and Smart Money Smart Kids I know we will be able to do just that!
I am sharing all these link ups on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cavus-Financial-Coaching/120347681380181.
Awesome! Thank you, Keith!
Sounds like a valuable book! I remember vividly being about 5 years old and my dad bringing me to open my first savings acct. the bank even gave away cute piggybacks to kids. I loved asking my dad to take me to the bank a few times a year to deposit my albeit tiny savings but feeling so proud!
Pam- it are moments like that that teach children the importance of money! This book has great ideas on age appropriate chores they can do to get their commission and how to teach them other positive money habits. It is a great resource!
I think this is so important to teach out kids!
I am right there with you Mary Ann! Money skills pour over into effecting many other areas of kids lives!
Found you via the Blogging Collective. This is a great post, and that sounds like a great book. It is so important that kids learn the value of hard work and about the value of money, how to save and how to spend without regret. I don’t want my kids to be tight wads, but I do want them to make smart investments. So far, my boys seem to weigh decisions pretty well when it comes to “their” money. I’m glad for that. I love the quote at the end of your post, too. So true! 🙂
That is great, Julie, that you have already taught your boys some of these money principles! It makes a huge difference in their lives today, but also for their whole future!
You definitely pulled out some of the gems with those quotes Cassie. Being a nerd, I like the saving one in particular – the simple act of setting a savings goal for a kid is so powerful – so much more than a “mathematical event” indeed!
So true Bill! Coming from a teaching background I tend to see the diverse learning opportunities just in one activity. With saving there are so many things a kiddo is learning!
Thanks for the linkup opportunity, Cassie! I love how we talk about different topics yet convey just one revolutionary message at the same time. It was a pleasure meeting you and the guys!
I love all of the quotes coming together in this one post, Cassie.
I look forward to following you!
Thank you Leslie. Thought it would be a great way to share more valuable content with all our readers!
I’ve been thinking about ordering this book, but now I’m going to! I’m a big Dave Ramsey fan, and it’s never too early to plan how we’re going to teach our 5 month old about money in the future. Great review!
Go for it Angela! I am reading it and our little one is not even in the world yet! It is a great resource! If you pre order before the 22nd you get alot of free goodies to go with it!
