Children are amazing learners, so what a better time to start teaching them to be learning about themselves? One of the best ways to do this is through the books you read together. To get you started on your journey, we reviewed five kid’s self-development books: You are a Lion by Taeeun Yoo, We’re Different, We’re the Same by Bobbi Kates and Joe Mathieu, The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Martin, I Am by Dr. Wayne W Dyer, and The Boy with Big Big Feelings by Britney Lee.

We added kid’s self-development books as a regular part of our routine after I had enjoyed my Miracle Morning routine so much I wanted to create something like that for the girls. Now we have a shortened, kids version of Miracle Morning for them. (You can learn all about Miracle Morning.) Included in that is reading together a self-development book for kids. Here are a few of our current favorites!

Our Top 5 Kid’s Self-Development Books:

YOU ARE A LION

This simply designed book leads children through the world of self-development through yoga poses. Each page teaches children how to move their body as well as multiple hidden lessons. Lessons such as being brave, finding your voice, and telling the truth. This book’s beautiful and fun imagery and teachings are sure to keep your child having fun while learning to find peace.

WE’RE DIFFERENT, WE’RE THE SAME

Who doesn’t love a book about Sesame Street? In this book, children learn through comparing and contrasting things about themselves with others. One of the most heart-warming messages inside is that each and every one of us is unique and bring something special to the world. This jam-packed read includes plenty of colors, shapes, and characters that will help expand more than just your kids’s self-development.

THE WONDERFUL THINGS YOU WILL BE

This book’s beautiful illustrations help your child think about their character. It encourages them to dream big, be kind, and remember that they are loved. A very healthy life lesson it teaches is that not all days are good, but that the power to change that rests with them.

I AM: WHY TWO LITTLE WORDS MEAN SO MUCH

This rhythmic book takes children through the concept of God and how He is all around and inside of them. It inspires kid’s self-development by inspiring confidence, faith, and the concept of grace for themselves and others. One of the most interesting things about the book is that the author added sections to help the parents grow alongside their child.

THE BOY WITH BIG BIG FEELINGS

This is a great book to help your child when they have emotions they don’t understand. The story takes you through the story of a boy who felt crushed by the weight of his and others emotions, until he found out that everyone else felt the same emotions. It’s a fantastic way to help your child understand that everyone feels lonely, sad, happy, and scared. Ending with a much needed reminder for any child not to hide away their feelings.

Kid’s self-development books can be some of the best ways to help your child learn some of life’s hardest lessons. Lessons such as kindness, the importance to walk with God, or the fact that we are all unique yet the same. These five books are great ways to start that journey.

What is one of your favorite kid’s self-development books?

Until Next Time- Truly Love,
Cassie
