As Christians we pray for a lot of different things. We pray in times of need, hurt and pain, but we also send up prayers of joy, happiness and celebration. We pray for people in our church family and we pray for complete strangers. How often do we pray for guidance, knowledge, or understanding for our spouse? Just like we pray for others we need to remember to pray for our spouses! Our husband or wife is the closest person to us, the person we rely on the most, and who we share everything with (I hope this is true for each of you who are reading!). Of course we should pray for them!

I know sometimes there are so many prayers of need I feel like I don’t have time to pray for guidance and understanding for myself or for Ryan. However, I am trying to change that! I ran across this great site, Raising Godly Children. Although we are not raising children yet they have other great resources! On this website is where I found 31 Days of Praying for Your Husband and 31 Days of Praying for Your Wife. AND GUESS WHAT!?!? Tomorrow is the start of August which just happens to be a 31 day month! Perfect! 🙂

31 Days of Prayer is set up in a simple format that it gives you things to pray about  for your spouse each day. You can go to the sight or print off a PDF verson they created (which is at the bottom of the post) to help guide you in your prayers. Wives will pray that our husbands seek the Lord, that God gives them wisdom, and that they are humble and teachable. Husbands will pray that their wives love for others grows, that her mouth is guarded when speaking and that her time is scheduled in a way that is pleasing to God. These topics and many others will be included in the 31 Days of Prayer.

I hope this resource inspires you to start (or continue) to pray for your husband or wife! Remember they need your prayers!

[…] Yipes…I wasn’t at all sure I had prayed well enough for him. In fact, it was sure I hadn’t. There is no going back, but now, fresh in studying how best to pray for those we love, I took God at his word and have been praying differently. Trusting God to intervene as I stood, fortified, in his presence.Photo Credit: True Agape […]
