When getting everything ready for our baby’s arrival I read several times that Dad’s can feel a bit left out. A lot of the attention is on Mom and baby. Meeting their needs and gifts for them. I then saw a suggestion of getting a special little something for Dad. Letting him know you appreciate all his help, but also to honor him becoming a Dad. I decided to put together a You’re a New Daddy gift basket with a few goodies for him. Once we arrived home and settled in from the hospital I gave it to him. And of course the main secret to making your husband feel loved is speaking his Love Language no matter the occasion!
I created some New Daddy Gift Basket Printables to make a killer gift basket for the Daddy-to-be. They support you in making this personalized, unique gift in a matter of minutes!
Here is a picture of the things I placed in our basket. See the list and description below.
I thought of some things that would be best for Ryan so have some fun with it when you decide what to put in the basket. Other things were a bit more generic that could be put in any Dad’s basket.
Cracked Pistachios– Ryan enjoys eating pistachios, but we usually get the ones that have to be cracked. I said something about needing a fast snack.
Dad’s Old Fashioned Root Beer– Just because it said Dad (and he likes rootbeer). I found it at the Dollar Tree.
I Love My Daddy Picture Frame– For his desk at work when he returns.
Pink Monster Bath Puppet & Cracked Pistachios– To have some fun bath time together as she gets bigger.
Book About Daddy’s– To continue to read to her after she is here.
Ninja Turtles T-Shirt– Ryan has Ninja Turtles PJ pants so I got this to match. Get a shirt that goes with his personality and then tag it with something along the lines of “Use this shirt when you have none clean”
Boogie Wipes– Ryan has always talked about keeping our kids faces clean so it only seemed appropriate!
Pig Puppet– To play “This Little Piggy” with the baby.
Kit Kat– For when he needs a break!
We just came out with a new printable product that will aid you in making this basket even more quickly! It has all the printables you would need including some coupons for the new Daddy and some shirt transfers from him and the baby. Check out the New Daddy Gift Basket Printables!
This “You’re a New Daddy Gift Basket” is a great way to include Dad in all the excitement. He is a huge part of the process and deserves to get some attention too! I mean we do want to make him feel loved, right? Well, of course! We put together 75 more ideas to make your husband feel loved that you will want to use during those days after the baby arrives as well!
What will you be putting in the basket?
Until Next Time- Truly Love,

What a great idea! This is so cute. I think it would be fun to give out to a new dad at a baby shower.

That is a good idea, Brandi! I have seen at showers where they give dad a “survival kit”. It has things like snacks, but also a clothes pin, mask and gloves. Stuff for diaper changes 😉

What a great idea and post! So often gifts are just bought for the mom. I absolutely love that you show how to include Dad!

I love this idea! Dads (especially first time dads) really feel awkward at first as they try to figure out their new position. This gift basket is AWESOME. Thanks for sharing. You’re a good mama and a good wife, too. 🙂

I am putting together a basket for my son in law, since my daughter seems to be getting so much attention right now. We included some of the items, so thank you for the great ideas. I also included bubble gum cigars, and a sign for the yard that says “it’s a Girl”. Thanks again for the great ideas.

Thank you for sharing with me, Nancy! I am so glad that this post was helpful to you! Great other ideas too!
Congratulations on the new grand baby! I hope they are all doing well!
